KASTLE || the Interview.

...wavy, yo.

In my never-ending search for bass-driven thrills, I came across a groove that was unparalleled. There is few that stand out like bay-area based Barret Richards, better known as Kastle. Today, where the music-junkie demands nothing but the best in emotional response, I proudly put the FadeCounty™ stamp of approval on Kastle. Why?

listen up:

 We had the pleasure of speaking with Barret and discussing everything from gangster rapper's to pubic landscaping, but most importantly, the essence of his music.

me: There are so many different elements of different genre's of music in your tracks, where do you get your inspiration from? and why do you do what you do?

K: I do what I do because I feel like I must. I fell in love with music at a very young age and have just always felt compelled to create it. Ever since I was 5 I was imagining myself as a musician. I don't like to think in terms of genre's when I write. Essentially I feel genre's are man-made, it's what we use to categorize things, but the actual music... is other-worldly. I never want to limit myself by trying to fit a specific genre. It's all about the feeling.

me: What can we expect from Kastle in the future?

K: I've just announced my new record label, Symbols Recordings.The first release is my Stay Forever EP, out on June 5th (TODAY). There are a lot of great releases coming at a high frequency at the launch. I've done collabs with both Jason Burns and iO which will release on the label as well. I am also working on my debut album, where I've done some work with JMSN and Austin Paul. I had taken a couple months off of DJ'ing after the tour with 12th Planet and the SXSW/Miami madness but will soon be out gigging and am playing Shambhala.

We were sent the "Stay Forever" EP, and unfortunately cannot share it (it's too good). So good, in fact, it's being released today on Symbols Recordings (their first EP).
SUPPORT THE ARTISTS; WE HONGRY.

We also recently interviewed Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs for The Creator's Project. Check that out here.
